1st Annual Cardinal Crown Playwriting Contest

Calling all local playwrights...

It’s time to pull out the typewriter, dust off that manuscript or put pen to paper for the first time as the Cardinal Crown Theater Company announces its first annual playwriting contest.

Local Writers from around the Tulsa/Owasso/Collinsville area and the surrounding communities are invited to submit work that fits the criteria below. The winning script will be produced as part of CCTC’s 2026 season, and its playwright will receive $250.  

• Plays must be submitted between June 1st and June 30th, 2025.
• Submissions open at 12:01am CDT on June 1st and close at 11:59pm CDT on June 30th.
• There is a $25 entry fee to be paid via PayPal
• The winner will be announced mid-July

  Submission Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Contact information, including name, phone number and email.
• You must own all rights to your work.
• 100–200-word synopsis.
• Cast list with number of female roles, male roles & number of roles that can be by either. Please limit cast size to 10.
• Subject matter must be family friendly and avoids; Strong/Foul Language, Excessive violence and, Offensive/Disturbing/Inappropriate themes that could be unsuitable for young audience members or their parents.
• Set design – We have limited stage space, please try and keep to a single set that can be creatively re-dressed for different scenes. Feel free to provide diagrams and/or pictures for consideration.
• Estimated running time – running time should be at least 90 minutes but no more than 100 minutes (this includes one (1) 15-minute intermission). Submissions longer than 100 minutes will be rejected.
• Plays must be written within the last five years.
• Paid $25 submission fee for each entry via PayPal
• Multiple submission accepted with separate entry fees.
